Top Ten Tuesday – Best/Worst Book to Movie Adaptations
Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week’s topic is the top ten Best/Worst Book to Movie Adaptations…so on to the list…in no particular order. There are more Best than Worst…because I like to dwell on the positive.
Best
1. Shawshank Redemption: This is a seriously excellent movie. I have watched it a million times and it still engages and ensnares me every time I watch it.
2. Lord of the Rings: Sure the movies deviate from the books in some big ways, but these are still absolutely stunning movies. They are breathtakingly beautiful and amazing to watch over and over again.
3. Fight Club: I never read the original book by Chuck Palahniuk, but this is a darn good movie. Love the twists and turns and how wonderfully creative it is.
4. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Love Tim Burton and love this story. I thought this movie even improved a bit on the older and more famous movie version of this book.
5. Alice in Wonderland: This is right now my absolute favorite movie. I love the characters, the imagery, and the story…and of course it’s by Tim Burton so yeah…I love it.
6. The Princess Bride: I have this movie memorized from beginning to end. It is a wonderful movie and even better than the book it portrays.
7. Warm Bodies: I loved this book and thought they did a really, really good job adapting this to a movie. Definitely a must read and must see. I love zombie stories and this was a very special one.
Worst
8. Eragon: I loved this book, but the movie was absolutely horrible.
9. Twilight: I read Twilight as an advanced review copy and adored it. The movie was absolute trash.
10. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Such an awesome comic turned into such a horrible, horrible movie. I wanted to love this movie…it has Sean Connery, it should have been awesome…
