This is the 6th volume in the Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic series. I enjoyed this volume a lot and continue to really enjoy this series. There are great characters, a wonderful world, and an interesting storyline.
This book leaves off where the 5th volume left off, Aladdin and Judar are still battling. Ali Baba needs to decide if he will step up to rule Balbadd or not, and he is struggling with his confidence. Sinbad is there to support the whole group and hopefully teach Ali Baba more about how to control the Djinn that he acquired in the Dungeon earlier in the series. Additionally we find out a lot more about how Balbadd got to be in the horrible situation that it is now in.
There is a lot of character development in this book for Ali Baba, this story features him for the most part. We watch as he struggles with that age old decision of whether or not he should take up rule of a city for the good of the people.
There are a couple really awesome battle scenes and these were very well done. We get to watch as Ali Baba tries to master his Djinn as well.
Everything is kind of coming together in this book. All of the characters from the previous books are in here and the city of Balbadd is teetering on the edge of either collapse or war. You can tell that this story is building up to something big.
I really enjoy this world, the characters, and the story. The story has gotten a lot more complex and is really interesting, but it’s not too hard to follow. The drawing is well done and fairly easy to follow. There is a lot of battling between Djinn in this book and there were a couple times where the illustration got a bit confusing and hard to following, but nothing major.
Overall a very well done fantasy manga. I definitely recommend if you like fantasy manga with lots of action and some magic. I can’t wait to see where the story goes in volume 7.
