This is the eighth book in the Jane Yellowrock series. The ninth book is scheduled to release in April 2015 and will titled Dark Hier. This continues to be an action packed urban fantasy series with a kick-butt heroine that I really love!
Jane is supposed to be updating security for Leo in preparation for the arrival of a delegation European vampires. Then things get weird. The elevator keeps wanting to go down to a sub-basement level of Leo’s complex where something truly evil lurks and an invisible light dragon of sorts is stalking both Jane and Leo. Jane needs to figure out what is going on because not only is her life in danger but also the life of her friends and family. Someone wants Jane gone and she needs to figure out who.
This book was just as wonderful as previous books in this series. Jane is absolutely awesome and can really kick some booty. Yet, she also struggles to maintain a good spiritual and emotional balance. In this book her and Beast learn to work together and to meld their DNA in a way that is very interesting. Jane is also learning sword fighting to compliment her stash of shotguns.
Bruiser is in the story a lot and I loved the interaction between him and Jane. To say their relationship is complicated is an understatement, but it was good to see it make some progress.
We also learn a lot of Leo’s secrets in this book and he has a lot of them. Additionally we are introduced to a new type of truly terrifying supernatural creature that can manipulate time just like Jane can.
Overall this was a fantastic read. All the books in this series are fast-paced and action packed. I love all of the characters and really enjoyed some of the new abilities Jane has developed along with the new creatures that are introduced in this book. I highly recommend this series to urban fantasy lovers out there.
