Best Graphic Novel/Manga of 2015
Welcome to the 3rd post in my “Best of 2015” series. These are the graphic novels/manga that I read in 2015 and really loved. There are quite a few of them. I have really been enjoying the graphic novel genre and read a lot of really great ones this year!
I think my absolute favorites of the year were Rat Queens and Black Butler. You can read more about those below.

Marvel’s Oz Comic Series by Eric Shanower , L. Frank Baum, Skottie Young
I have enjoyed all of Marvel’s OZ comics. However, the third book in the series was by far my favorite. This is a beautifully drawn graphic novel that does an excellent job of retelling and staying (relatively) true to the original Oz books. This series is great for all ages.
Oz: Ozma of Oz

Fables by Bill Willingham
So hard to believe that this series is done, but it was time. This was the perfect prelude to the closure to this series. I enjoyed it a lot

Black Butler by Yana Toboso
I started watching the Black Butler anime and didn’t really love it. However, I decided to read the first couple manga anyway since I already owned them. I loved this series! It is incredibly fun and entertaining to read. I love the characters and the mystery. This is just such a fun series. The drawing is incredibly intricate and just amazing as well. This is my favorite manga/graphic novel after Rat Queens.

Rat Queens by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Roc Upchurch
This is my new favorite graphic novel series. Love this classic fantasy graphic novel. It’s violent and crude but oh so delightful! This is just pure fun to read and both the illustration and the story is very well done!
Rat Queens, Vol. 2: The Far Reaching Tentacles of N’rygoth

Ravine by Stjepan Sejic and Ron Marz
This looks like it’s going to be an amazing fantasy graphic novel series. The first volume just mainly sets things up. However, I was incredibly impressed with the world, characters, and story. Additionally the illustration and color was amazing!

Vinland Saga by Makoto Yukimura
I am huge fan of the Vinland Saga manga. These are epic historical fantasy mangas that are not only fascinating and entertaining but also pay close attention to detail and are beautifully illustrated.
