Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
This has been a fantastic and complex fantasy series by Maas. Complex world building and wonderful characters. I strongly recommend to fans of epic fantasy.
Book 4: Queen of Shadows
———————————————————————————-
The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski
This is the third year in a row for this series. This is a wonderful historical fantasy that I really enjoyed. This book did a fantastic job of wrapping up the series.
Book 3: The Winner’s Kiss
———————————————————————————-
The Falconer Trilogy by Elizabeth May
This has been an amazing fantasy series with both steampunk and fae elements. I love the world and the characters and am desperate to see how things wrap up in the third book.
Book 2: The Vanishing Throne
———————————————————————————-
The Girl Who Series by Catherynne Valente
This is an amazingly perfect ending to this wonderfully creative fantasy series. Valente’s writing style is incredibly beautiful and descriptive. I adored this series and this was the perfect ending to it.
Book 5: The Girl Who Raced Fairyland All the Way Home
———————————————————————————-
The Unwanteds series by Lisa McMann
This was by far the best book in this middle grade fantasy/dystopian series and it did a wonderful job of wrapping up the series. Recommended to middle grade readers who love fantasy.
Book 2: The Island of Dragons
———————————————————————————-
The Queens of Renthia series by Sarah Beth Durst
An amazing and imaginative fantasy world, couple with an easy to love heroine made this a wonderfully engaging read. The plot is fast-moving and this book was so much fun to read. Recommended to fantasy fans.
Book 1: The Queen of Blood

The Chronicles of Alice by Christina Henry
I am loving this dark fantasy extension of the Alice in Wonderland series by Henry. I loved this book even more than the first one; it has a much more questing feel to it and isn’t quite as disturbing. This series won’t be for everyone…it’s very very dark…but I am loving it.
Book 2: Red Queen
———————————————————————————-
Lockwood and Co by Jonathan Stroud
I have been loving this series but this book just took the whole series to a new level of awesomeness. This is the third year this series has been on my favorite’s list. Stroud does a wonderful job of creating a creepy and creative world with characters that are mysterious and engaging. The story is just amazing and I am so in love with it.
Book 3: The Creeping Shadow
———————————————————————————-
A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas
Yes, this is another Maas series. She is just an excellent fantasy writer. While I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book in this series…this book blew me away and was just so…big. The world is complex, the story is increasingly complicated, and the characters are amazing. I loved every minute of this book.
Book 2: A Court of Mist and Fury

Red: The True Tale of Red Riding Hood by Liesl Shurtliff
I have another fairy retelling book from Shurtliff on this list last year. She does an amazing job of writing humorous and well done fairy tale retellings that are incredibly engaging. Both me and my nine year old son love her books.
