“Nevada Baylor can’t decide which is more frustrating—harnessing her truthseeker abilities or dealing with Connor “Mad” Rogan and their evolving relationship. Yes, the billionaire Prime is helping her navigate the complex magical world in which she’s become a crucial player—and sometimes a pawn—but she also has to deal with his ex-fiancée, whose husband has disappeared, and whose damsel-in-distress act is wearing very, very thin.
Rogan faces his own challenges, too, as Nevada’s magical rank has made her a desirable match for other Primes. Controlling his immense powers is child’s play next to controlling his conflicting emotions. And now he and Nevada are confronted by a new threat within her own family. Can they face this together? Or is their world about to go up in smoke?”
This is the 3rd book in the Hidden Legacy series and was was my favorite book of this series yet. I enjoy the characters and thought that the storyline made some good progress.
Progress is finally being made towards Nevada’s family having their own house. I also like that Rogan and Nevada have developed a better balance with each other. Rogan’s ex is in the story and, although this does cause some tension between Rogan and Nevada, it was well done and never comes off as annoying or childish.
There are a lot of interesting politics going on in here with more talk of a big conspiracy that will hopefully develop more in future books. There are also a lot of excellent action scenes that are well written. I think my only disappointment was that the trials Nevada and family had to undergo to become a House ended up being very rushed, trivial, and kind of squeezed in right at the end. I was hoping this was going to be a bigger part of the story.
I continue to enjoy the characters and am finally starting to enjoy the world as well (if took me awhile to warm up to this world…I just don’t think it’s quite as interesting as worlds in other Andrews’ series).
Overall this was the best book in this series yet. I am really loving some of the plot developments that are happening and continue to enjoy the characters. I am also slowly warming up to this world. I would definitely recommend to fans of action-packed urban fantasy.
