“To be touched by an Outsider is to become an Outsider. A clawed, black hand reaches out to touch Shiva’s cheek in her sleep. The hand does not belong to Teacher. Who is this strange new Outsider, and what do its creepy murmurings about mother portend?”
This is the second book in The Girl from the Other Side series. I am continuing to really enjoy this series. In this book we find more out about The Outsiders and why Shiva was abandoned on their side of the wall.
This series has been described as “a quiet fairy tale” and that is a very apt description of it. I continue to enjoy the relationship between Teacher and Shiva. I also enjoy the dark woods, fairy-tale like setting of the story. We are introduced to some more Outsiders in this book as well has some humans from the the other side of the wall; the story gets more and more interesting.
The illustration is fantastic and matches the tone of the story really well. The way images are displayed is very thoughtful and artistic.
The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and I am incredibly curious to see where the story goes. I am interested to see what the significance of Shiva and her pure soul is and curious to see how this all ties in with The Curse.
Overall I am really loving the uniqueness and quiet beauty of this manga. I would recommend to manga fans who enjoy fairy tales. This is a very unique manga that is different from any other manga I have read and I am really enjoying. I definitely plan on continuing the series
