“This is the world. It is not the one we wanted, but it is the one we deserved. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse roam the Earth, signaling the End Times for humanity, and our best hope for life, lies in DEATH!”
This is the first book in the East to West graphic novel series. I just finished this and really enjoyed it. I love stories that focus around the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
I thought Hickman did a good job of creating a somewhat complex story without making it really confusing. The breaks between settings and scenes were well done and I like how the edges were blurred around frames that were memories.
The illustration was decent; I liked the color palette and thought it was easy to follow. There are some scenes where things could have been detailed a bit better but overall it was decent illustration.
Overall I enjoy where the story is going and in general like this type of post-apocalyptic western sci-fi story. It reminded me a bit of the Dark Tower graphic novel series. I’d like to continue on with the series and see where it goes.
