“Librarian turned sorcerer. Sorcerer turned hero. Hero turned puppet.
The Solaris Empire found victory in the North and, at the cost of her heart and her innocence, Vhalla Yarl has earned her freedom. But the true fight is only beginning as the secret forces that have been lurking in the shadows, tugging at the strings of Vhalla’s fate, finally come to light. Nowhere is safe, and Vhalla must tread carefully or else she’ll fall into the waiting arms of her greatest foe. Or former lover.”
This is the 4th book in the Air Awakens series; there are five books total in this series and all have been released. I enjoyed this book immensely. I loved how Vhalla struck out on her own and grew a lot as a character. I also really enjoyed that her and Aldrick actually tried to work together throughout this book.
All the characters grow a ton in this book. I was impressed by how far Vhalla has come from the first book and how much Aldrick has grown as well. The magic with the Crystals and the history behind the Crystals was really interesting too.
All of this story was very engaging and very well done. I was hoping for a bit more adventure with Vhalla out on her own, however she returned to the Tower fairly quickly. I ended up not being disappointed by this, the things we learn while she is at the Tower are very intriguing.
I loved the scenes between her and Aldrick. This is a very emotional story and especially heart-breaking at times. I enjoyed some of the new characters added as well.
Overall this was an amazing read, I absolutely loved it. This is a great YA fantasy story that makes for a quick and entertaining read. I am excited to read the final book in the series, Crystal Crowned.
