“Arianwyn is a fully qualified witch, but somehow magic doesn’t feel any easier than it did in her apprentice days. The Hex has driven all manner of supernatural creatures out of the Great Wood and into her little town — some benign, others dark, and others downright mischievous. The Spellorium has never been so busy!
What’s more, the High Elder has set her a dangerous secret mission. With Gimma acting weirder than usual and her friendships crumbling under pressure, Arianwyn faces the toughest spell of her witching career — can she really see it through alone?”
This is the second book in the Apprentice Witch series and I enjoyed this book a ton, I think it was even better than the first book.
Wyn is taking a break from serving as the Witch in Lull. However, when she is called on to perform a special mission she ends up back there. What she finds out is incredible and amazing and we are beginning to find out just how serious the Hex in the woods is!
I love Wyn, although this is a very trying book for her. I also enjoyed all the dark creatures we ran into and the further developments around the Hex. This was a very quick read and well written.
My only complaint is the ending. This book ended very abruptly and I was a bit confused. I assume it will pick up where it left off in the third book.
Overall this was a very well done YA fantasy read. I enjoy the classic fantasy feel to the this book and enjoy all of the magical and dark creatures. I definitely plan on continuing this series. Just be aware that this ending is very abrupt.
