2018 Blogging Resolutions – How Did I Do?
Personal Resolutions Were:
Read less, spend more time gaming and volunteering: Mixed Result
I did not read less. However, I did spend more time playing board games with my family which was good. I also ramped up volunteer work helping with the Food Shelf through work and helping to run my son’s Knowledge Bowl team at school. I also helped with the Book Fair again at my son’s school.
Focus on building endurance, strength, and flexibility to improve my health: Mixed Result
I didn’t really get to working on this until mid-year. Another job change put a wrench in my plans. However, since September I have been either running 3 miles or biking 10 miles every day (with the occasional rest day). I have also been spending a lot more time stretching. While my weight has only decreased by 5 lbs, my % body fat is down by 3% and I have a lot more energy.
Blogging Resolutions Were:
1. Keep My Review Pile Under Control: Success!!!
I never had more than 1-2 review books per month and did a great job at keeping this in check.
2. Reduce my TBR Pile: Hugh Success!!
I only had 34 books left on my TBR pile at the end of the year. This was huge for me and I plan on continuing to drop this to zero in 2019.
End of Year | # Books TBR |
2012 | 275 |
2013 | 261 |
2014 | 274 |
2015 | 230 |
2016 | 196 |
2017 | 34 |
3. Read less books this year: FAIL 🙁
I read way more books this year than last year. Mainly because I was hitting the TBR pile pretty hard. In hind-site it’s a bit counter-intuitive to expect that I would get through my TBR pile and not read MORE books.
4. Expand on the theme of this blog: FAIL!
I actually put less emphasis on blog activities and I am not sorry that I did this. Working on my blog less helped me reach more of my life goals, so I am okay with not meeting this!
