“Trying to take advantage of the first quiet day at camp in a while, Mal and Molly’s date takes a bizarre turn with the appearance of the bear woman! Back at camp, Jo, April, and Ripley must stay on their toes as they try to earn every badge possible which ends up being a lot harder than any of them ever planned.”
This is the 3rd volume in the Lumberjanes series and I didn’t think it was quite as good as the previous two volumes. It felt like a transition book to me. I still enjoyed the colorful illustration, the zany characters, and the quirky camp.
The first part of this book was a chapter where the characters attempted to tell ghost stories to each other; this was cute but also a bit silly. The rest of the book is dedicated to an adventure that Mal and Molly have with the bear woman. This was a fun adventure but didn’t tie in well with any larger story.
The illustration is still easy to follow and fun. I like the full color. I continue to enjoy the crazy situations these girls are put into.
Overall I enjoyed this graphic novel; it was a fun and quirky read. I didn’t think it was the strongest of the series and hope that a stronger storyline is presented in volume 4.
