“The unseelie—banished by Oberon long ago—are stirring awake, and there’s one name on their dark lips: Nightshade. Kesh is beginning to settle into her role as Halow’s messenger, saving people from the fae with the help of Kellee, Talen, Arran and Sota, but if she has any hope of making her wrongs right, she must trust those around her. Without them, there is no messenger. Friends, lovers, more. But one has a secret. A secret so dark it threatens to change everything Kesh believes in. A secret that could change the fate of Faerie, Halow, and all of humanity. When the fae abandoned the stars long-ago, they left behind more than fairytales. They left behind their monsters.”
This is the third book in the Messenger Chronicles series. There are five books planned in this series, with the final book releasing in June 2019. I have been getting these through my Kindle Unlimited membership. This was a good book in the series. I really enjoyed some of the revelations around Kesh and Talen.
In this book Kesh and crew end up on Kellee’s home world and are investigating the stirring of the unseelie there. As part of these there are many revelations around Kellee’s, Talen’s and even Kesh’s past.
I continue to really enjoy the creative worlds and the unique blend of sci-fi and fey these books have. I am getting a bit tired how each book has involved this group loosing and retrieving members of their party. It would be great to see them all actually work together at some point. I also feel like each book doesn’t make much progress in the story, however these are very quick reads so I can’t complain too much.
This book does have some romance in it. The level of sex is similar to the second book, it’s there, but there is also a very complex story and world as well.
Overall I continue to enjoy this series and plan on finishing it up. I love the creative alien world we get to visit and the blend of faerie/sci-fi. The story is an engaging, fun, and quick read. I would recommend to those who enjoy science fiction with a PNR tone to it.
