“Ingrid Asher is the newest resident of Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where shapeshifters, vampires, witches and dragons live alongside humans.
Ingrid doesn’t ask for much. The solitary tree nymph just wants to live a quiet life running her ice-cream shop in peace. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to shake her new neighbor, Rob Aspern, head of the League’s data science department and so good looking it just isn’t fair.
If there’s one thing Ingrid doesn’t need, it’s someone poking around in her business. But the more she gets to know the hunky mathematician, the more she finds herself letting her guard down. Can she trust him with her secrets, or will her past destroy everything?”
This is a novella in the Mystic Bayou series by Harper. This is one of the few Harper series I have not read yet and this novells gives a good look into that series while presenting a story that stands alone well on its own.
I listened to this on audiobook and the audiobook was very well done. Ronconi always does an amazing job with audiobook narration. Davis sounded great as well. I didn’t mind that the book switched back and forth between the two narrators, it worked really well.
This was a cute little paranormal short story about a tree nymph who moves to a new town to start an ice cream shop. She ends up striking up an unlikely romance with a mathematician there.
I enjoyed the setting and characters, this made me want to go and check out the rest of this series by Harper. I have enjoyed a lot of Harper’s other paranormal series and this was a good quick intro to her latest series.
Overall I would recommend if you are looking for a quick and fun paranormal romance read. This is a great way to get an introduction to the Mystic Bayou series without fully committing to that series. I personally enjoyed it a lot and plan on checking out the whole Mystic Bayou series.
