“Eledan’s nightmare has been unleashed upon the worlds and with Oberon gone, only the messenger crew stand in its way.
Kellee, Talen, Sirius, Sota, and Kesh. Together, they are stronger, but there are forces on Faerie who do not want the worlds saved, forces that would see the Messenger and her crew torn apart.
Queen to Faerie’s new king, Messenger and more to the saru, lover to some and a weapon to others, but who is Kesh Lasota really? A guiding light or an unwitting puppet?
Answers are coming.
The time for lies has passed.
And Kesh will soon learn some battles can’t be won alone.”
This is the fifth, and final, book in the Messenger Chronicles. I enjoyed how this ended, although there weren’t many surprises here. I enjoyed the creative blend of sci-fi and faerie throughout this whole series. This book was good but felt more like a “tying up of events” rather than an epic finale.
Eledan has been released and Oberon is gone. It’s up to Kesh and company to figure how to save the world from both the Hunt and Eledan. Is Kesh enough to save everyone? Will her company of men be enough to stop the coming darkness?
This book felt a lot longer than the previous books because the story switched POV a lot. Mainly we hear from Kellee and Kesh, but we also hear from others. I didn’t think this worked great for the story, it made it feel disjointed and long.
Things played out mostly how I thought they were going to play out. This made the book feel a bit like something to just tie up the series, rather than something exciting and special. I liked it and enjoyed it but didn’t love it.
Overall this was a good ending to the series and does a decent job of tying things up. This was definitely my least favorite book of the series, but if you want to know how the series ends it’s worth a read. I probably won’t pick up more books by DaCosta mainly because I didn’t love her writing style, I did enjoy her creativity in building an interesting world here though.
