“Carrie uncovers this make-or-break moment in a case file her sister Aifric, a newly qualified barrister, leaves on their kitchen counter: Robert Collins has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend after a fight in a local pub, and all signs point towards a guilty verdict. But both sisters quickly begin to find evidence that complicates the story. All the while, Carrie is very aware that she’s crossed the line – if the detective sergeant running the investigation finds out she’s been messing around with his case, her career will be over before it has begun.”
I got this as a free Audible Original with my Audible membership. This was a well done murder mystery involving two sisters in Ireland (one who works as a police officer and one who works as a lawyer). It is apparently a prequel to a very popular series by McTiernan which I have not read.
I listened to this on audiobook and it was very well read. I would definitely pick up more audiobooks by this narrator.
Carrie and Aifric must hunt down the true murderer of a young woman before the woman’s ex-boyfriend is wrongfully accused of the murder. This story stood alone find on its own and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by not having read the rest of the series.
I enjoyed this story and thought it was well written and engaging. At 2.5 hrs long it’s a pretty quick listen, but it’s one of the better free Audible Originals I’ve picked up from Audible. There is a lot in here about Carrie and Aifric trying to make it in careers that are male dominated.
Overall I enjoyed it and would recommend if you enjoy murder mysteries. If you have an Audible membership definitely pick it up as a freebie…it’s one of the better Audible freebies I have procured.
