“I promised to avenge my parents.
But their killer is still on the loose, and he’s stolen more than my parents’ lives. Now, as he draws closer to his mysterious goals, he’s poised to destroy what little I have left.
I promised to translate an ancient grimoire.
But it holds the secrets of my family–and the secret history of demon summoning. I fear its answers as much as I need them. Who was the foremother of Demonica…and who am I?
I promised to send my demon home.
But the way he watches me, the way he protects me, the way he touches me–how can I cast him away forever? I swore I would do this for him, but can I? Should I?
But I promised–and I will keep my promises even if they cost me my heart, my soul, and my life.”
Series Info/Source: This is the fourth (and final) book in the Guild Codex: Demonized series. This book ties in with sister series; Guild Codex: Spellbound and Guild Codex: Warped. I borrowed this for my Kindle through Kindle Unlimited.
Story (5/5): After reading so many mediocre books lately it was amazing to read something I knew I was going to love. This book met my expectations and then exceeded them. There were a lot of great surprises and this series was tied up in an amazing way. Robin and Zylas are trying to help stop the cult of the Red Queen (run by Robin’s uncle) from opening a gate to Hell and summoning a female demon. Hopefully along the way Robin will discover the secrets of her past and how demon summoning came into being.
Characters (5/5): Robin and Zylas are definitely the highlight of this series (and so far the Guild Codex world). The push and pull of their relationship and the way they struggle to work together because of the fact they are different species is amazing. They are two of my most favorite characters ever! Of course the other side characters are very well done too and I really enjoyed them all.
Setting (4/5): This book mostly takes place in modern Vancouver in various safe houses. It was well done but not the main point of the story.
Writing Style (5/5): This story was incredibly well written, I could not put it down!!! The action scenes are amazing. All the history and mysteries behind demon summoning were very interesting and really woven into an excellent story. The scenes between Zylas and Robin were absolutely amazing as well. So, much happens and our characters grow so much. I just absolutely loved this story!
My Summary (5/5): Overall this was an amazing conclusion to the Guild Codex: Demonized series. I loved every minute of this book. There is a solid mystery here interspersed with amazing action scenes and amazing scenes between Robin/Zylas. I love, love, love this book. It was such a fun read and so engaging. If you are a fan of light-hearted urban fantasy I would definitely recommend all of the books in the Guild Codex universe.
