“We catch up with Death and Babylon in this eighth volume of the bestselling series, EAST OF WEST.”
Series Info/Source: This is the 8th volume in the East of West graphic novel series. I borrowed this book from the library.
Story (4/5): In this volume Death and his son Babylon travel together and learn about each other. We also get to see the Hidden Nation take over the White Tower and watch as someone starts to hunt The Chosen. I enjoyed this a lot, while it wasn’t quite as cohesive as volume 7, it was much more cohesive than previous books in the series.
Characters (4/5): I loved watching Death and Babylon interact and really wonder where all that is going to end up. The characters are all very distinctive and well done.
Setting (4/5): I don’t have a lot more to say about that setting that I haven’t said in previous reviews. This remains a really unique setting with some really well done world-building and I enjoy it.
Writing/Drawing Style (4/5): Although this volume is more scattered than volume 7 was, it is a lot more cohesive than other volumes. I enjoy the progress the story is making and think it is very well written. The illustration is beautifully done, full of amazing color, and easy to follow.
My Summary (4/5): Overall this was a good continuation of this series. The story remains engaging and I am eager to see where everything ends up going. I would recommend it if you enjoy apocalyptic fantasy western graphic novels.
