“My greatest enemy has always been myself. Over the past few weeks, I’ve painstakingly put my broken pieces back together, from the dark mysteries of my past to the heart-rending conflict of my present.
But just when I finally start to feel whole again, everything around me falls apart.
Lallakai, the newly ascended Queen of Shadow and Death, betrays us and takes Zak prisoner. Echo, the powerful fae I thought would help save Zak, threatens to kill me. And Ríkr’s nemesis, the ruthless Summer Queen, is hunting him again.
With the four ancient fae poised to battle for supremacy, I’m the only one who can prevent a catastrophic clash of their power. But stopping them will require more than druidic magic. It’ll take an act of destruction as devastating as they are.
I’m about to test the strength of my scarred heart, and if I fail, I’ll end up destroying everything—and everyone—I’m most desperate to protect.”
Series Info/Source: This is the fourth, and final, book in the Guild Codex: Unveiled series. I borrowed a copy of this book for my Kindle through Kindle Unlimited.
Thoughts: This book picks up where the last one left off. Zak has been taken over by Lallakai and Saber is determined to break him free of her influence, not just to save Zak but to prevent Lallakai from becoming powerful enough to wreak havoc around the world. However, as things progress Saber finds out Lallakai might not be her biggest problem. Rikr hasn’t been being totally honest with Saber and has plans of his own that might be more dangerous than any threat Lallakai could every present.
This was the perfect conclusion to this series in every way. I love that we meet even more of the rulers of Fae in this book and there is even more druidic magic. Sabre is in a very tough spot but help comes her way from the Crow and Hammer Guild. It was very fun to see Tori, Ezra, Aaron, Kai, and Darius be involved in the story. Kit also makes some appearances.
Zak and Saber are an amazing couple and will break your heart again and again. This book had an awesome plot and wrapped up the whole series in a comprehensive and uplifting way. The action scenes in here are awesome as well. The book was completely engaging and impossible to put down, I loved every second of it!
My Summary (5/5): Overall this was the perfect conclusion to this series and was the conclusion that my favorite character in the Guild Codex World (Zak) deserved. This was such a fun read, engaging and action-packed with a sweet romance between Saber and Zak. I loved all the fae characters and enjoyed having cameos from other characters in this series as well. I would recommend all the books in the Guild Codex World if you like light-hearted urban fantasy. Marie does an amazing job creating fast-paced, humorous, urban fantasy that is action-packed, engaging and impossible to put down! I can’t wait to see what she is going to write next! I recommend picking up the optional short story that is a “farther out in time” epilogue for Saber and Zak as well.
