“A pasture of dead trees. A hostile takeover of the Santa barn by a family of raccoons. And shipments that have mysteriously gone missing. Lovelight Farms is not the magical winter wonderland of Stella Bloom’s dreams.
In an effort to save the Christmas tree farm she’s loved since she was a kid, she enters a contest with instafamous influencer Evelyn St. James. With the added publicity and the $100,000 cash prize, she might just be able to save the farm from its financial woes. There’s just one problem. To make the farm seem like a romantic destination for the holidays, she lied on the application and said she owns Lovelight Farms with her boyfriend. Only … there is no boyfriend.
Enter best friend Luka Peters. He just came home for some hot chocolate, and somehow got a farm and a serious girlfriend in the process.”
Series Info/Source: This is the first book in the Lovelight series. There are currently three books released in this series with a fourth potential book on the horizon. I borrowed this on audiobook from my library.
Thoughts: I really loved this. It was the perfect friends to lovers, cozy and humorous holiday read. I loved the small town setting and the quirky, fun characters. This was such a fun, feel-good read!
Stella has always dreamed of owning a Christmas tree farm and she was so excited to make her dreams come true, but things aren’t going as she planned. A lot is going wrong at the farm and she enters a social media contest to try to get more publicity and potential prize money. Except, she lied on the application form…she said her and her boyfriend owned the farm together to make it seem more romantic. Now she needs to get a fake boyfriend quick and her best friend, Luka, seems like the perfect candidate….if only she wasn’t desperately in love with him.
This was such a fun, heartfelt, holiday read. It made me grin and laugh out loud many times. There is some goofy humor in here and some of the situations the characters end up in are downright hilarious. Everything about this book is warm, holiday spirit. The Christmas tree farm is magical and Stella puts so much love and care into it. The town around the farm is loving and supportive. There are amazing baked goods, snugly kittens, and so many pine tree fresheners you can practically smell them. This is like a sweet little holiday season in a book.
I absolutely fell in love with this town and the characters. The romance between Stella and Luka was perfect; it was sweet, spicy and just amazing. It was such an adorable read. I listened to this on audiobook and the narration was really well done. This was an audiobook where I kept looking for more menial tasks or driving to do so I could keep listening to it. It was very hard to tear myself away from.
My Summary (5/5): Overall I adored this little book and I am excited to read more books in this series. I don’t read a lot of straight contemporary romance but this was the perfect cozy, funny, holiday read. I loved the town, the characters, the humor, the farm, the romance…it was all perfect. There’s even a little mystery thrown in to give your brain something to work on when you aren’t swooning over how adorable everything about this farm is. If you are looking for a cozy, hilarious, holiday read this is it!
