“Cheesemaker Brie has the worst luck in love, which is how she ends up falling for a lactose intolerant werewolf, in this raunchy, laugh-out-loud rom-com fantasy that’s perfect for fans of Legends & Lattes and The Dragon’s Bride.
Anyone else ever thrown a drink at someone’s head, only to miss entirely and hit a stranger behind them? Then have that stranger fall madly in love with you because it turned out that drink you threw was a love potion? No, just me? Well damn.
Dealing with a pirate ship full of demons that just moved into town was hard enough. Now on top of it, I have to convince a werewolf that I’m not his fated mate, he’s just drugged. Easier said than done.
Though I have to say, having a gorgeous man show up and do all of your chores while telling you you’re beautiful isn’t the worst thing to happen to a girl.”
Series Info/Source: This is second book in the Mead Mishaps series. I borrowed this on audiobook from the library.
Thoughts: This was a fun and slightly dirty humorous paranormal read that I enjoyed. I think if you enjoyed the first book in this series, you will enjoy this one as well.
This book follows Brie (who we met some in the first book) who has an unwanted suitor. When she grabs what she thinks is a normal drink to throw at the head of this unwanted suitor, she accidentally hits the werewolf behind him and finds out that it was a love potion. Now she has a werewolf determined that he is her fated mate and she doesn’t know if it’s true or if it’s the love potion. Then girls start disappearing from town, and Brie is worried for both her safety and the safety of her friends.
This is just a light-hearted humorous romance with creatively explicit sex scenes and a little mystery (the mystery is definitely in the background of the story). It’s a fun, quick diversion. This is definitely not a deeply involved fantasy story but a humorous situational romance with a bit of a mystery in the background that carries on the back story from the first book.
I didn’t find Brie to be that different from the character in the first book, and Felix was (similar to the male lead in the first book) giving off serious alpha vibes. The whole story has a very feminist bent to it, which is fun.
There isn’t anything super special in here, but if you are looking for a humorous, slightly raunchy fantasy romance that is a quick read, I would recommend it!
My Summary (4/5): Overall I enjoyed this. This is a quick, humorous, sexy read set in a fantasy world. There is a slight plot outside the romance, but the romance is the main driver behind the story. The sex scenes are very explicit (so a heads up if that bothers you) but are fun and well done. I plan on continuing with this series. These books have been short and fun diversions between other more serious reads.
