“Winter Celeste has spent a lifetime suppressing the horrors of Sight, her particular Wicked talent. She may be a Wicked, which is quite different than a Witch—thank you very much—but she will never embrace her evil powers. When her avoidance tactics fail and she becomes caught in a nightmarish vision of the future, Winter is devastated to learn her sisters’ lives are in jeopardy. And the only way to change the future is to run from it.
Famous TV ghost hunter, Erikson Grimm, is used to tracking the paranormal, he just never thought he’d be chasing after Winter Celeste. Finding her is a favor to his brother. A huge favor. He may be prime time TV’s darling, but to Winter, he’s never been anything but a useless playboy, and she isn’t afraid to let him know exactly how she feels.
When Erikson’s touch triggers a vision that may be the key to saving her sisters, Winter grudgingly admits she needs his help. Except the more time she spends with “the fun brother,” the more she learns he isn’t what he presents to the world. As they pull together a risky plan to save her family, Winter realizes that if she isn’t careful, she might fall for a man her curse will never allow her to keep.”
Series Info/Source: This is the 2nd book in the Wicked Sisters series. I borrowed this on ebook from Kindle Unlimited.
Thoughts: I really enjoyed this second book in the Wicked Sisters series. It is a cute and fun paranormal romance read. It has cozy autumn/winter vibes to it and is the perfect fall read. This book wasn’t quite as cozy as the first book in the series. However, I did enjoy getting to learn more about this magical world and the Shadow Council. We learn a lot more history about Wicked and Witches and how that fits in with the rest of this world.
This book follows Winter (and there are hints that we will get a third book following Missy). Winter is the restrained sister, the quiet one. When Winter has a horrible vision she can’t ignore, she decides to leave the apple orchard and her family behind to try and outrun the Shadow Council. However, her family isn’t put off that easily. They might be planning for a wedding, but they still have time to send Erikson Grimm off to hunt Winter down. Erikson and Winter can’t stand each other but Winter finally agrees to accept his help with the Shadow Council. When they start spending time together, they find out they not only have excellent chemistry but may also be tied together by a strange connection from the past.
This was a quick and easy read that was steamy, fun, and engaging. I loved both Winter and Erikson as characters and enjoyed watching them get to know each other. It was fun to see all the sisters cope with their expanding powers and to learn more about this world as a whole and the Witches and Wickeds that reside in it.
This was just one of those easy, cozy reads that has some steamy love scenes and some heartfelt family moments. Things never get too dangerous or dire. Most of the people in here are decent and trying to be kind. It’s just a delightful paranormal romance read.
My Summary (4/5): Overall I enjoyed this a lot. There’s nothing super special about this book, but it does cozy paranormal romance well. The fall is a perfect time to read this book, and it is an easy read that is just pure fun. I love the characters, the romance, the family vibes, the growing magic powers, and learning more about this paranormal world. I would highly recommend this to those who enjoy paranormal romance with some steamy scenes, but also some cozy vibes and some sweet family interactions. I am looking forward to Missy’s story!
