Thoughts: I enjoyed this continuation of the MEOW series. As with previous books, pacing feels a bit off in this one. We get a lot of day to day life in the first 3/4’s of the book and this weaves into the broader story, and then bam! a ton happens in the last part of the book. While I enjoy the day to day operation of the Magical Emporium, I would have liked to have time to enjoy all the revelations towards the end of the book as well.

Sable is getting better and better at navigating the Emporium’s magic, and her own magic is growing as well. Indigo is growing by leaps and bounds, but the Cat has been odd. The Emporium seems to have an agenda of its own, one that the Cat cannot use the Book to predict. Sable is determined to free the Cat from his curse, but what will doing that cost her?

As with previous books, the majority of this book is day to day operations of the Magical Emporium. We visit more intriguing worlds and meet new intriguing characters, which I adored. A lot of time is also spent navigating the relationships within the shop and dealing with Indigo’s schooling and the dragons.

I loved how Sable is learning more about her magic and how she is collecting intriguing magical items. It broke my heart how the Cat felt like he needed to keep so many things secret and didn’t trust Sable enough; it’s like history repeating itself over and over again.

I also continued to really enjoy all the characters in the story and the cozy, yet strangely, adventurous feel to the whole series. This is well written and easy to read, even if it is slow at points.

There is so much that happens right at the end of the book that I had to go back and re-read it. So much changes so quickly with Sable’s birth family, with her magic, and with the Cat. I really would have preferred getting to this point earlier in the book so that we could have learned more about all of this and spent a bit more time processing it all.

My Summary (4/5): Overall I enjoyed this. I continue to love the premise, the interesting worlds we hear about, and the intriguing characters we meet. I love the characters and enjoy the progress the story makes; both in regards to Sable’s growing magic and to Cat’s curse. The pacing is off at points. Some of the beginning was a bit slow, and the ending felt too rushed. I look forward to reading the next, and I believe final, books in this series “Harmony & Home” when it releases later this year.
